Lemmy Of Motorhead Dead At Age 70

Ian Kilmister known to most of us as the great Lemmy of heavy metal band Motörhead, died Monday at age 70 of “extremely aggressive cancer,” the band confirmed in a statement.

Lemmy who survived diabetes and implantation of a heart defibrillator was just diagnosed with the disease two days ago, the band said.

“There is no easy way to say this, Our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer. He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family. We cannot begin to express our shock and sadness, there aren’t words.”

Motörhead had cancel several recent performances because of what the band said was a lung infection. But it had cleared up, and the band had looking forward to going back out on the road.

Original Motorhead drummer, Phil Taylor, died just last month after a long illness.

R.I.P. Lemmy. You were an original.
