Meatloaf Collapses On Stage

A representative for Meat Loaf has revealed the rocker was suffering from “severe dehydration” when he collapsed onstage during a gig on Thursday.

The 68-year-old singer, real name Michael Lee Aday, was performing his hit song I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That) at the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Canada when he fell over and initially failed to respond as crew members rushed to revive him.

He was subsequently taken to a local hospital following what medics have described as a “fainting episode” and his representative told CBS New York he was in “stable and in good condition”.

It has now been revealed doctors have determined he was suffering from severe dehydration and he is “recovering well.”
“Meat Loaf collapsed Thursday night due to severe dehydration near the end of his concert at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton, Alberta Canada,” a message on Facebook reads. “He was admitted to a nearby hospital to undergo routine tests.

His vital signs are stable and normal – additional tests are being performed but he is responsive and recovering well.
“He extends his heartfelt thanks for everyone’s support and well wishes, and is expecting a speedy and full recovery. Any concert postponements/rescheduled dates will be announced at a later time. Thank you for your support and understanding.”

In video footage from the concert posted online, the singer appears to have lost consciousness as several people rushed to help him. During the six-minute clip Meat Loaf doesn’t move after falling to the ground. Shortly after the video ended, the crowd was cleared from the venue.
