Two of the best guitarist I have ever seen got together with Dan Auerbach of Black Keys fame at Coachella. Joe Walsh and the man he replaced in the James Gang, Glenn Schwartz jammed together. I know you know who Joe Walsh is but in case you never heard Glenn play, you have missed a lot. It’s been reported that Jimi Hendrix once said that Glenn Schwartz was one of his favorite guitarists he ever heard. I was lucky enough to see Glenn with the James Gang and the band he joined after leaving the James Gang, Pacific Gas And Electric both great memories.
Rolling Stone described it as the best guitar jam of Coachella’s opening weekend. “Schwartz, his long graying hair beneath a bandana, stood between Auerbach and Walsh as their trio of guitars raged and snarled.”
Auerbach posted about the jam on twitter: “Joe Walsh joined us along with the man who taught Joe how to play the guitar – 78 year old Glenn Schwartz and his home made guitar!! For those who don’t know Glenn, look up The All Saved Freak Band… Such an epic show on so many levels…thank you to all the fans for packing out the Mojave tent!”
