Time to take a look back into this day in rock history: August 29
1966
The Beatles play in front of 25,000 fans at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park. It is their final paid concert and it comes seven years to the day after they played their first show with McCartney, Harrison and Lennon at Liverpool’s Casbah Club. The show is hosted by Johnny Holiday, now in California, who also hosted the Beatles show for Cleveland’s WHK two years before.
2005
Close one! Hurricane Katrina ravages the south. Rescue crews save 77-year old Fats Domino in New Orleans, who vowed to ride out the storm despite orders to evacuate.
2018
The 1980s return to the Kent Stage.
