Open for business. The Whiskey A-Go-Go opens on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. A long list of recording artists make their mark there.
1967
The Jimi Hendrix Experience records “Purple Haze” at a London studio, a song that drummer Mitch Mitchell claims the band learned after hearing Hendrix hum the melody.
Done in three takes!
1986
His first real hit in ten years, James Brown scores with “Living in America” from the
Rocky IV
soundtrack.
