Yeah, that sounds kinda familiar. A court orders a band called The Trashmen out of Minneapolis to pay royalties to Beechwood Music. That publishing house holds the copyright for The Rivingtons’ 1962 hit “Papa Oom Mow Mow.” The court finds The Trashmen borrowed heavily from on their 1964 hit “Surfin’ Bird”. Oh, and that’s not the Rivingtons dancing in the video. (Seriously, what was the purpose?)
