The Beatles‘ original bass player died of a brain hemorrhage. 22-year old Stu Sutcliffe was in the band because he was a close friend of John Lennon, and had equipment and rehearsal space, but most say he couldn’t play very well. Astrid Kirchherr was his girlfriend, and created the Beatle haircut for Stu. John and Pau McCartney liked it and wore it as well. Sutcliffe is on the very early Beatle tracks on “Anthology 1”. He left the early Beatles in 1961 to concentrate on his art because his headaches were getting too severe to play. Lennon thought they may have been the result of a fight he and Stu got with some sailors in Hamburg.

Fire raced through the former home of the late Johnny Cash. The 13,880-square-foot house, in suburban Nashville, was home to Johnny and his wife June until their deaths in 2003. The Bee Gees’ Barry Gibb later bought it in January 2006. Gibb and his wife planned to restore the home on Old Hickory Lake hoping to write songs there.
