Hey concert goers, our good friends at the Kent Stage are bringing you some great concerts the first part of this month.
Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary fame is coming back to perform a special May 4th show. This will be much more than a nostalgia show. Peter will turn The Kent Stage into his living room while telling stories and singing memorable songs. It will be an evening rooted in the historic milestones of his past, yet focused on the current issues that continue to call him to activism. Be prepared to reminisce, clap, sing, cry and laugh on May 4, 2024 when Peter Yarrow wraps up the 54th May 4th Commemoration at The Kent Stage.
Talisk will be taking the stage on May 5th. One of the most talked-about folk bands of the 21st century, Talisk have been tearing apart stereotypes and redefining the genre for almost a decade. With over 15 million streams, 10,000 albums sold worldwide, and sold out shows across five continents – from Paris to New York, London to Tokyo, Glasgow to Vancouver – alongside headline appearances at festivals the world over, the Scottish trio have amassed a global, die-hard following.
Rufus Wainwright hits the stage May 8th. Praised by the New York Times for his “genuine originality,” Rufus Wainwright has established himself as one of the great male vocalists, songwriters, and composers of his generation. His newly-released studio album Folkocracy features reinvented folk duets with artists like Chaka Khan, Brandi Carlile, John Legend and Anohni and many more. Folkocracy is Rufus Wainwright revisiting his roots, of childhood summers spent at folk festivals and watching his famous family on stage. But it’s also the sound of an artist in the present, flanked by an incredible array of guests, using all he has learnt from conquering pop to make music worthy of awards.
Not to be outdone John Hyatt is bringing his brand of blues and folk rock to the stage on May 14th. A master lyricist and satirical storyteller, John Hiatt delivers songs filled with tales of redemption, relationships and surrendering on his own terms.
For the country music lover, Little Texas is coming May 16th. Thousands of shows and 8 albums later and celebrating the 30th year of its debut appearance on the country music charts, it’s easy to understand why the group earned the moniker “Hardest Working Band in Country Music.”
The Kent Stage is bringing these great shows and many more this summer including Dave Mason, Bruce Hornsby (at the Goodyear Theatre), The Dictators, Judy Collins, Pure Prairie League, Lucinda Williams, Elvin Bishop, and Donnie Iris to just name a few.
