Bill Walton might have been the biggest “Deadhead” of them all. Not the fact that he stood 6′ 11″ but that the man saw over 1000 Dead shows including one in which he took his Boston Celtics teammates including Larry Bird, Dennis Johnson and Robert Parrish to a show in 1985 turning Parrish into a Deadhead.
Walton passed away earlier this week and his friends like Bobby Weir and Mickey Hart expressed their sadness on the loss of their close friend on social media but they took it to another level at Thursday night’s show at the Sphere in Las Vegas when Dead And Company honored Walton during the finale with an amazing video tribute against the playing of Fire On The Mountain. The photos included Walton attending various Dead concerts, photos with band members, and a tie-dyed number “32” which was the number he wore during his college and NBA days.
Fare Thee Well Bill……
