A night of hits and more from Grand Funk Railroad at MGM Northfield last night. Lead by original drummer Don Brewer, the band rocked through hit after hit – Rock N Roll Soul, Footstompin’ Music, Shinin’ On, Heartbreaker, Loco-Motion, Walk Like A Man, Sky High, Some Kind Of Wonderful, I’m Your Captain and closing with We’re An American Band. Lead Singer Max Carl, former lead man for 38 Special, covered Second Chance, and the Animals, Inside Looking Out. Ohio native Mark Chatfield solo’d a great Star Spangled Banner. Rounding out the band was Tim Cashion on keyboards and Stanley Shelton (from Peter Frampton) on bass, filling in for original bassist Mel Schacher who was ill.
