Review: Donny Osmond Brought Vegas To Akron Civic Theatre

The Akron Civic Theatre was alive the other night with a full house being totally entertained by Donny Osmond. Kicking off the show Vegas style with a tight band and a stage full of dancers, he led off with Soldier of Love to get the crowd immediately revved up. He then had to sing “that one signature song that everyone knows you by” – Puppy Love,,,,,followed with Who.

Donny has had a career than spans 6 decades and in many forms. He has just completed his 65th album. Rapping on stage with dozens of film clips and photos, he rapped about his career. Then into Close Every Door, I’ll Make A Man Out of You and Don’t Stop. He then threw it out to the audience to request any songs from his long career. There were a couple he was a little shaky on the words, but really had a fun time with the audience – bringing a few fans, old and young on the stage. One young lady (age 7) was asked if she knew any of his songs and she of course said her grandmother told her some. Donny’s sense of humor was great as a few fans mentioned about seeing him 50 years ago.

Fan requests consisted of This Guys In Love With You, And You Love Me, My Cheri Amor, Donna, I Knew You When, Whenever You’re In Trouble, Hey Girl, Happy Birthday, Any Dream Will Do, Love Me For A Reason, Yo Yo, Little Bit, Puppy Love, Go Away Little Girl, Ben and One Bad Apple.

He wrapped up the evening with Having A Party, Start Again, Vegas Medley, In My Life, On and On, Moon River and Let’s All Dance.

A fantastic time was had by all
