And Your Bird Can Sing – The Beatles
This number off of Revolver (my favorite album of all time) was performed in 1966 during arguably one of the Beatles greatest writing periods. The dual lead guitars by George and Paul, coupled with Paul’s “lead type bass” and John’s lyrics, which no one truly knows what they mean, put this song on a high pedestal. – Pritch
Do It – Pink Fairies
A 70’s punk rock/psychedelic band this song is from their first album, Never Never land.
They were the beginning of Punk with roots in Hawkwind and The Pretty Things. You might want to try Kings of Oblivion too. – Dom
Running On Empty – Jackson Browne
Everytime this song comes on it just takes me back on a memory trip, summer, Blossom Music Center, being young. I remember the first time I ran into Jackson. He was skateboarding around Blossom before they let the crowds in. First time I ever saw Jackson, first time I ever saw a skateboard – Bear
Love Reign O’er Me – The Who
This song, from the rock opera album Quadrophenia, was written by Pete Townshend and explodes with brass, descending guitar notes, power vocals and outstanding drumming. This song to me really shows off Roger Daltrey’s voice and Keith Moon’s drumming, particularly at the song’s conclusion. A song I always listen to. – Pritch
Better by You, Better Than Me – Spooky Tooth
A progressive rock band from the 60’s and early 70’s. Gary Wright (Dream Weaver) came from Spooky Tooth. A British band more popular in the US than at Home. – Dom
Because – The Dave Clark Five
These songs this month keep me going down memory lane. When I hear Because I remember and can see it in my head the first time I danced to this song with my wife. Strange how music takes you back to a certain time. – Bear
Mama Can’t Help You – Doyle Bramhall II
A song about a couple breakup with Bramhall depicting the scenario and the need to handle the situation correctly and to deal with the consequences. James Gadson on drums (Bill Withers, Playing for Change) adds his unique style to this bluesy little number. – Pritch
Have You Seen the Stars Tonight – Jefferson Starship
From the Blows Against the Empire album. This was the first album after Jefferson Airplane’s breakup. They went on to release 8 Gold or Platinum studio albums. – Dom
Comfortably Numb – Roger Waters, Van Morrison, The Band
I know there is no one that can sing this song better than David Gilmour but when Van, Levon and Rick Danko kick it in wow, man I really like this version. – Bear
House at Pooh Corner – Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
These country dudes took the Loggins/Messina song and turned it into an upbeat nighttime song for kids. What you say….I used to sing this song to my kids at bedtime when they were young, mainly because I couldn’t think of a real bedtime song at the time. They loved it as I still do. – Pritch
Pink Pony Club – Chappell Roan
Her real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz and she is fun. An American singer song writer, she won the 2025 Brit Award for Best International Artist and the 2025 Grammy for Best New Artist. – Dom
