John Hiatt Doesn’t Disappoint This Fan

Finally I got to check John Hiatt off my concert bucket list. I have had tickets to see him live 4 times, but something always happened that I could not make the show. Not last night and I must say, I was glad that it was just John Hiatt and his guitar (Oh, and harmonicas.)

Words cannot describe how great it was to hear this “legend” sing and play in the best sounding venue in Northeast Ohio, The Kent Stage. I have been a fan since I heard his album, “Warming Up to the Ice Age” when I started store manager training for Camelot Music. One of the first “promo” copies I ever received.

John Hiatt was just a pleasure during his entire set, sounded amazing, and was just having a little fun too. His story about giving one of his old harmonicas to his granddaughter, watching her instantly take up to it and then send her home with her parents. He said they sent him a video of her playing with it and said, “look at what you have created”.

I only got to see/hear one song from Clarence Bucaro who opened the show for John Hiatt. A singer/songwriter who also played an acoustic set was promoting his newest album “Passionate Kind.” Bucaro sounded great and I noticed during intermission right after his set, there were a lot of new fans headed to his “merch” table to pick some souvenirs. Many commented on how great his voice sounded and wanted to get his CD. It was nice to briefly get to talk with him and grab a picture too. I am also a new fan!

Another great night of music at The Kent Stage.

John Hiatt is now officially “checked” off of my concert bucket list, but I cannot wait to see him again!
