Lynskey will be interviewed by Andy Leach, the Rock Hall’s Director of Library and Archives, as they discuss his book 33 Revolutions Per Minute: A History of Protest Songs from Billie Holiday to Green Day. Audience members will be able to participate in a Q&A session, as well as purchase copies of the books for signing.
GETTING THERE:
The Rock Hall’s Library & Archives is located at 2809 Woodland Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. The facility is at the corner of Woodland Avenue and East 30th Street, in a shared building with the Tommy LiPuma Center for Creative Arts of Tri-C. This is approximately two miles southeast of the Museum.
PARKING:
Free parking will be available in Lots 5 and 6 of the parking garage. Metered parking spaces are also available on the street in front of the building or around the block. Signage will be posted directing visitors to the event.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
33 Revolutions Per Minute is a history of protest music embodied in 33 songs that span seven decades and four continents, from Billie Holiday’s “Strange Fruit” to Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young’s “Ohio” to Green Day’s “American Idiot.” The book examines how music has engaged with racial unrest, nuclear paranoia, apartheid, war, poverty, and oppression.

Dorian Lynskey writes about music, film and politics for publications including the Guardian, the Observer, Billboard, British GQ, Q, MOJO, Empire. He is the author of 33 Revolutions Per Minute: A History of Protest Songs from Billie Holiday to Green Day. He lives in London.
