Pete Best Hits A High Note With Fans

Original The Beatles drummer, Pete Best and The Pete Best Band transformed The Kent Stage into the Casbah Coffee Club last night with songs from the early years of The Beatles career. Covers of not only The Beatles songs, but also covers of the American rock and roll songs that influenced The Beatles to pick up instruments.

Pete Best has assembled The Pete Best Band made up of musicians that have mastered that “cavern sound”. Pete Best kept the beat with a smile as his bandmates played and told stories with the songs. The “BRITISH INVASION” took over The Kent Stage with many of the fans that were “Shake It Baby” with The Beatles in the 1960s. Many of them had brought their children and grandchildren to enjoy the music of their youth. A lot of clapping along, a ton of singing along, some dancing in the seats, and dancing in the aisles for the last song. That nostalgic sound was fantastic to hear, and Pete Best was just enjoyable trip in the Rock N’ Roll time machine.

After his set, Best -came out to his “merch” table to meet his fans, take pictures with his fans, and sign some autographs. Getting to meet one of the Silver Beatles / The Beatles “Priceless”!

Opening the show, just as they did for The Beatles on their U.S.A. tour in the 1960’s, including their last show at Candlestick Park in 1966 (Last paid show.), The Cyrkle played The Beatles classics, told the stories of touring with The Beatles, and having the same manager. Their name was the Rhondelles until, by John Lennon’s suggestion, to The Cyrkle (A roundabout reference.) This band obviously loves playing live and has a lot of fun doing it.

Just before The Cyrkle played their biggest hit song, “Red Rubber Ball” a guy came running into the lobby and asked if they had played it yet. I told him they would were just getting ready to do so. He said he had driven in from Detroit specially to hear them perform this song. He stated that he had been stuck on the turnpike for over an hour and a half. After The Cyrkle finished “Red Rubber Ball”, he gave out a huge scream and then said, “OK, now, bring on Pete Best !”
