Jade MacRae released her 4th solo album called “In My Veins” a couple of days ago. Sadly it wasn’t sent to us for a review, but I saw a post from Joe Bonamassa on social media that caught my attention and thought I would give it a listen with no plans for a review.
That changed after listening to the first track “Out Of Sight” because that first track made me want to listen to more of her amazing voice and I figured if it did that to a “jaded” music reviewer then you might want to check it out also.
Her voice is powerful, it reminds me a little of the first time I heard Amy Winehouse but mixed in with a little of the soulfulness of a Corrine Bailey Rae but don’t get me wrong it’s all Jade MacRae.
There are so many highlights on this album it’s hard to find a starting point. Like I said “Out Of Sight” is a game changer but it doesn’t end there. “Rose Colored Glasses”, “Reckoning”, “How Can We Live” are throwbacks to when soul ruled the airwaves. This album is ten tracks long and each one builds off the track before it, there is not a dud on it. I also have to give a shout out to Joe Bonamassa for some amazing guitar work on “Early In The Morning” that compliments her voice and doesn’t try to ride over it, though with that much power in it I’m not sure even he could run over that voice.
You got to give this a listen, this is an amazing album from a singer that there is no ceiling in how far she can go. Hopefully they send us a copy of her next album so we can give it the treatment it and she deserves.
