Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach’s new band, the Arcs are releasing a special limited edition LP, The Arcs vs The Inventors Vol.1 which will be released November 27th as part of Record Store Day Black Friday event. Auerbach has recruited two veteran songwriters in Dr. John and Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo for the LP.
Auerbach released a statement about the project, “Sometimes the best way to see into the future is to study the past. In this series, we do both, collaborating with folks who have been in the game a long time but instead of rehashing old material, we collaborate on new works, explore new ideas and introduce each other to a different generational perspective. We’ll continue in this series to track down our heroes and bug them until they agree to make some noise with us. Hopefully we learn a thing or two.”
The LP will feature New Orleans legend Dr. John playing piano on “Skull Session,” “Blessed & Burned,” and “Janitor” and on organ on “Virginia Slim,” “Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea”. Hidalgo contributed guitar on “Virginia Slim” and organ on “Blessed & Burned”.
The Arcs are Auerbach, Leon Michels, Richard Swift, Homer Steinweiss, and Nick Movshon and they released their debut LP, “Yours Dreamily”, in September. The band will be on tour in North American starting in December.
