Our own Mike Olszewski has written many books, especially books on Cleveland music and radio that are some of my all-time favorite books. Books like Radio Daze and WIXY 1260: Pixies, Six-packs, and Supermen that are so good I have actually read them multiple times.
He along with his wife Janice have just put out a new book on another subject of Cleveland’s radio scene and what might be the wildest personality that ever came out of the Northcoast, Pete Myers but as he was known on-air, “Mad Daddy”.
The book is full of Cleveland’s music history with names like Alan Freed, Leo Mintz, Bill Randle and many more but the focus is on Pete Myers aka Mad Daddy and his frenetic, wild persona which chronicles the rise and fall and ultimately the tragic end of one of Cleveland’s great personality’s.
On July 27th the Music Box Supper Club is hosting one of their “Cleveland Stories Dinner Parties” where they are going to be discussing the legend of Mad Daddy Pete Myers with a great panel of contributors including Janice & Mike Olszewski, Johnny Holiday, Jim LaBarbara and Miriam Linna.
Tickets are FREE for this event but there are a limited number of tickets available, and reservations are required. Go to Mad Daddy! A Celebration of How Cleveland Changed Rock Radio! Music Box Supper Club! (musicboxcle.com) for more info and tickets.
