1960

The Congressional committee investigating the payola scandal hears from Dick Clark who admits he had a financial interest in 27 percent of the records he played on his show over a two-year period.  Even so, he is cleared of all charges.

It’s not like the Beatles on Ed Sullivan,  but Weird Al Yankovic makes his TV debut with “Another One Rides the Bus”, his parody of Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust”, on Tom Snyder’s late night The Tomorrow Show.

2016

It still sems hard to believe.  Prince Rogers Nelson, better known as Prince, is found dead at Paisley Park, his home near Minneapolis.  Heavy media coverage following his death.
