1972

“Human Kindness Day” draws 25,000 the Washington Mall, in the nation’s capitol to celebrate those “who have added to humanity and national community togetherness.” The first honoree was Roberta Flack, and would become an annual event until 1975, when several political groups used it to push their agendas. Plus, 500 incidents of robbery and 150 people were hospitalized. Local news media campaigns heavily and the event was never held again.

Well, let’s see the evidence first.  Singer Tommy Steele claims he took Elvis Presley on a secret tour of London in 1958.  Steele says the King flew into London for a day and he supposedly took him around showing him famous landmarks like the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and so on.  The only verified sighting of Elvis in the UK was during his trip back to the US from his army service in Germany.
