Time to take a look back into this day in rock history: August 28

1965

It’s about what?  The Beach Boys’ “California Girls” hits #3 on the US charts.  It’s later reported the song is the result of Brian Wilson first experience with LSD.

1969

The Family Dog at the Great Highway presents the Grateful Dead. The band encourages fans to tape their show.  Here’s a soundboard recording of that night.

1976

Number on the charts…twice!   Peter Frampton’s Frampton Comes Alive  tops the charts for three weeks, is  temporarily replaced at the position by Fleetwood Mac, and returns to the #1 spot the next month.
