Time to take a look back into this day in rock history: December 23

1964
Beach Boy Brian Wilson suffers a nervous breakdown on a flight between concerts from Los Angeles to Houston.  Wilson leaves the group to concentrate on writing and producing and is replaced on the road by Glen Campbell.
On that same date, pirate broadcaster thumb their nose at the tightly controlled British Broadcasting Corporation and start airing Radio London from a ship off England’s coast.
1966
The final episode of ITV’s Ready, Steady, Go! airs with an all-star cast that includes Mick Jagger, the Who, Donovan, Eric Burdon and the Spencer Davis Group among others.
1967
Cream plays Detroit’s Grande Ballroom.
1972
What does he want!?  The members of Grand Funk Railroad are paid a visit by former manager Terry Knight at Madison Square Garden who demands $1-million in cash or assets.  He presents the band with a court order, but they convince him they can’t bring in money if he seizes their equipment.  That happens after the show.
