1967
Photographer George Jerman captures the Beach Boys feeding animals at the San Diego Zoo for the cover of Pet Sounds.  Originally titled Our Freaky Friends, the album would become one of the most celebrated works in rock history.
1971
After years of writing hits for others at the Brill Building in New York, Carole King’s breakout album Tapestry is released on Ode Records. It will win four Grammys and sell 25 million copies. 
1993
Oprah Winfrey scores a rating coup with her prime time Michael Jackson interview on ABC-TV.  Topics cover everything including plastic surgery.
