1955
Former Cleveland disc jockey Alan Freed hosts his first stage show as a New York jock and he packs the house.
1985
Big night for Cyndi Lauper as she’s nominated for five Grammy awards including Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Performance (Female), Record of the Year and Song of the Year.  She takes top honors for Best New Artist.  First female artist since 1967 to get five nominations.  Back then it was Bobbie Gentry.

2003

What a find!  500 tapes known as the Beatle Sessions that were stolen back in the 70s are found during a British bootleg probe.  The investigation centers on Amsterdam and London and five people are arrested.

2016
David Bowie dies at age 69 after battling cancer for a year and a half. His final album “Blackstar” was released only two days before his death.
2023
A stunning loss in the world of rock as the great Jeff Beck passed away in a Surrey England hospital at the age of 78.  He fell victim to spinal meningitis and left a long resume of outstanding work eventually landing him in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice.
