1957
Liverpool’s famed Cavern Club opens as a jazz venue on this date in 1957. Made famous by the Beatles when it opened to pop groups, Paul McCartney would return to the reopened club in 1999.
1980
How’d that get in there? Paul McCartney gets busted at Tokyo Airport with a half-pound of weed enroute to a Wings concert. He does ten days behind bars and the eleven Japanese dates are cancelled.
2021
Phil Spector dies in prison after contracting Covid-19. The legendary producer was serving time for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson. He would have been eligible for parole in 2024.
