This Day in Rock History: January 25th

Time to take a look back into this day in rock history: January 25

1961
The House of Representatives Special Sub-committee on Legislative Oversight meets and they set their sights on former Cleveland DJs Alan Freed, Joe Finan and others. So, what exactly were they looking for?
Dick Clark emerged unscathed.  Alan Freed not so much. Freed, like some other jocks, would continue but never at the levels they had seen during the payola days.
1987
Former Brill Building songwriter and noted performer Neil Diamond is asked to sing the National Anthem before the…uh, oh yeah.  The “Big Game”.
1990
Righteous Brother Bill Medley guest stars on NBC’s “Cheers”.  Fellow RB Bobby Hatfield would do a walk on as well.
