Time to take a look back into this day in rock history: January 30
The final Beatles concert on the roof of Apple Records. The band is joined by keyboardist Billy Preston for a 42 minute set that is finally stopped by police when neighbors gripe about the noise.
They started out as Wicked Lester, but the newly renamed Kiss makes its first appearance with that name at the Queens, New York, Popcorn Club.
It took two years, but a settlement is finally reached among the late James Brown’s family members to divvy up his state and market his likeness and music. 50% went to a charitable trust to educate his grandchildren and needy students, and the rest to his wife and some of his children.
