Time to take a look back into this day in rock history: October 17

1970
Arguably the best time to see the Dead was when the band had a cult following on the east coast.  They played smaller halls but not for long.  Here’s an example of the way they sounded earlier that year.

1979
Tom Waits would often ask to be taken to local Goodwill stores and fleabag hotels when he visited Cleveland to “soak up the atmosphere”.  Here’s an interview conducted a little more than a week before his October 17th gig at Music Hall.
