Crickets lead vocalist David Box, who took the mic after Buddy Holly’s exit, is killed in a plane crash in Houston, Texas. 

1970
The original “Jersey Boys”, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers the Four Seasons had a career resurgence after the play and film “Grease” was embraced by the nostalgia crowd.

Classified primarily as a jazz /Latin artist, Esperanza Spalding has been performing since the age of five and is self taught on a number of different instruments.

Rhiannon Giddens is both a Grammy and Pulitzer Prize winner, as well as an author of children’s books, who embraces a wide range of musical influences.

At first listen, their first single “A Horse with No Name” was thought to be a  Neil Young song.  Fifty years later America celebrated its golden anniversary at the Akron Civic Theater.

Martin Sexton got his start at open mic nights and later distributed his own demos on 8-track tapes.  Those tapes are now highly prized collector’s items.
