1968  

Eric Clapton lays down the solo on George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” at EMI’s Abbey Road studios.

1985
Madonna takes a stab at film stardom in “Desperately Seeking Susan”.  The producers originally wanted Diane Keaton and Goldie Hawn for the starring roles.  

1990

Tom Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater revival dies from AIDS he contracted through a blood transfusion.  He was only 49 at the time of his death.  When the band is inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame his bandmates bring his ashes on stage.

2001

Earth, Wind & Fire announces that Viagra would sponsor their 30th anniversary American tour.
