Vicki Peterson & John Cowsill – The Treelawn

Vicki Peterson & John Cowsill

A fun and entertaining night at The Treelawn with husband and wife, John Cowsill (The Cowsills, Beach Boys, Smithereens) and Vicki Peterson (The Bangles). They sounded great and told many fun stories throughout the night.

The night started with a song written by John’s brother Bill – You In My Mind, Tthen Vagabond by Blue Northern, Come To Me and Don’t Look Back and Ol Timeless by Barry Cowsill.

Then Is Anybody Here,- a Blue Shadows cover, Anything by the Continental Drifters, Feed My Hungry Heart by the Action Skulls and In A Different Light by the Bangles.

Next up a big fan favorite Manic Monday written by Prince.

John told a few fun stories about Indian Lake – The Cowsills were changing their image, not doing their past hits, playing to a sparse audience at the Troubadour…….a lone fan kept yelling out to play Indian Lake, which they kept telling the fan they don’t play it anymore…..and finally had the person thrown out …..the fan was Brian Wilson. Another time, his siblings who still tour as The Cowsills played Indian Lake at an Indian Casino, and were told afterward they were banished from ever playing there again. Bob reluctantly wrote a letter of apology to try and get to play the Casino again, but was still told they would never play there again.

Next was a cool cover of their hit Hair, followed by New House by the Action Skulls (a band he formed with Billy Mumy (Will Robinson of Lost In Space fame)), Embers and A Thousand Times and The Fool Is The Last OneTo Know by the Blue Shadows.

The night finished up with a great version of Walk Like An Egyptian.
