An Evening With Wilson Phillips
Starring on the MGM Northfield Park Center Stage last night was Wilson Phillips, formed in 1989 by sisters Carnie and Wendy Wilson (daughters of RRHOF Inductee Brian WIlson of the Beach Boys) and Chynna Phillips (daughter of RRHOF Inductees John and Michelle Phillips of the Mamas and Papas).
With credentials of 4 Top Ten hits and 5 Grammy nominations, their vocals were still crisp and well blended harmonies. The only negative was no band – so the performance was somewhat Karaoke-like.
The ladies opened the night with their hits The Dream Is Still Alive and Give It Up, before covering the Elton John hit Daniel which they contributed to a tribute album.
Before singing You’re In Love, Chynna gave a shout out to her husband of 30 years Billy Baldwin, who was sitting in the back of the crowd.
The set consisted of many covers of Beach Boys (God Only Knows), Mamas and Papas (Dedicated To The One I Love) and various girls groups (We Got The Beat, Venus, Hazy Shade Of Winter and Walk Like An Egyptian).
