Not exactly right for the Beatles, but Peter and Gordon take Lennon and McCartney’s “A World without Love” to the top of the charts.  Paul McCartney’s relationship with Peter’s sister, Jane, has its benefits!

1974

Jim Morrison’s longtime companion Pamela Susan Courson, was found dead in her Hollywood apartment at age 27.    She was 27 years old, the same age Morrison was when he passed away in 1971. The plaque where her ashes were interred  in Santa Ana, California reads “Pamela Susan Morrison 1946-1974”.  Here’s the issue: They were never married!

1977

The end is near.  Elvis Presley makes what will be the final recordings of his career at a concert at the Saginaw, Michigan Civic Center. Three of the songs from the show will appear on the posthumously released Presley album, “Moody Blue”.

1990

Jimi Hendrix’ Fender Stratocaster he used to perform the “Star Spangled Banner” at Woodstock is auctioned off in London.  Sale price $295,000.

2013

O’Jays founding members Eddie Le vert and Walter Williams file a million dollar lawsuit against Crown Royal Whiskey.  They say the company used their song “For Love of Money” in a commercial without their okay.
