Time to take a look back into this day in rock history: December 26

1966
Big day in Beatles history. Peter Cook’s and Dudley Moore’s BBC TV show Not only… But also has a surprise guest as a latrine attendant.

A year later, and still smarting from the death of Brian Epstein, the Beatles air their video project Magical Mystery Tour. It gets panned by critics and fans alike,. The music holds up, but the story of a random bus holiday does not. Plus, it was filmed with spectacular (for the time) color effects, but most people saw it on black and white sets. The reviews are so bad that plans to air it on US TV are scrapped.
